How To Create A Traditional Home Exterior

Posted on

If the exterior of your house is modern, dull, or just nothing like the traditional home that you want it to be, then you're in luck because there are some cosmetic changes that you can make to it. But what? From adding siding to creating a new roofline, this article will list a few things that you can do that will make a big difference in the exterior of your home. Are you ready to learn some more? If so, then read on.

Add Siding

Brick is beautiful and stucco is as well, but it may not give you that "Father of the Bride" style of house that you want. With siding, though, your contractor can help create that ultimate traditional look that you've been wanting. The great thing about siding is that you can put it on top of both brick and concrete without having to tear much of anything off. Plus, it's really resilient, fairly affordable, and you can paint it just about any color that you want to.

Change Your Landscaping

Landscaping can do wonders for the exterior appeal of your home. Talk to a landscape architect about adding things to your house like a brick pathway, boxwoods to line it, an then flowers around your windows. Then, you can also hire a gardener to come out and plant some big pots for your front porch. When you are having pots designed for your front porch, try to pick two that are symmetrical to go around the door because symmetry is key in traditional design.

Having a traditionally inspired home doesn't' have to be hard to achieve but it may take a lot of money. If you want to learn more about how you can create this look and implement these ideas, reach out to an exterior designer.

Get a New Roofline

If you have it in your budget, then talk to a roofing contractor about creating a new roofline. If you have a flat roof or a roof that doesn't have much of a pitch, then your home probably looks more modern than traditional. But, when you talk to a roofing contractor, they can create a pitch on your roof which will really help to bring that traditional vibe to life. Depending on how big your house is and if there are other structural changes that you want to make, this project may be small or large.
